What Happens When You Exercise?
When you exercise, your body works a lot like a machine. First, with the help of your energy source, ATP, your muscles begin to move in order to create motion.

Your moving muscles make demands on other parts of your body, including your heart, which starts beating faster to pump more blood into your muscles. Meanwhile, your nerves, blood vessels, lungs, and skin also respond to your muscular movements.

All of this motion causes your body to heat up, so its natural cooling system kicks on. In order to maintain a normal body temperature, your body releases sweat through glands on your skin. This sweat evaporates quickly, causing a cooling effect on your skin.

But what is sweat exactly?

Sweat is composed of water and dissolved nutrients, including potassium and sodium. These nutrients are part of a network of essential electrolytes that your body requires to properly function.

The loss of these electrolytes through sweat can cause you to become dehydrated and fatigued. So it’s important to replenish these electrolytes during and after exercise.

Read on to learn how coconut water can help you repair your body during exercise.

How Does Coconut Water Benefit You During Exercise?
Coconut water is an all natural isotonic beverage, meaning its rich in minerals your body needs to replenish during and after physical activity.

Coconut water is especially rich in potassium and sodium electrolytes, which are the main electrolytes lost when you sweat. Coconut water also contains:

  • Magnesium
  • Calcium
  • Phosphorus

Its rich electrolyte content makes coconut water one of the best drinks you can consume while working out.

Additionally, coconut water contains essential vitamins, including vitamin C and B vitamins.

Vitamin C works to boost your immunity. When you workout, you can become fatigued more easily.

Read on to learn about PHENOMTM Coconut Water and its additional vitamin and mineral boosts that make it even better than traditional coconut water.

I have just learned the benefits of drinking cocunut water and I drink cocunut water before my routine and on hot days when I go biking. I would love to get to try a free phenom cocunut water.

  2. bob says:

I get really dizzy when I push a workout too hard, not during, but later that day if I get up too quick. Its called neurally mediated syncope. I’m wondering if maybe coconut water or something similar to it would keep this from happening

  3. Rex Hart says:

I have never tried coconut water as an aid to exercise, but I will occasionally drink a small amount of chocolate milk after a particularly strenuous exercise to speed muscle recovery. How does coconut water compare to chocolate milk as an carbohydrate retainer for metabolizing and protein content for muscle repair?

  4. Ariel Zeigler says:

I have been using coconut water for working out as a healthy alternative for gatorade for the past two years, and it has done wonders! the little bit of sugar and electrolytes it gives me keeps me going for an hour and a half five times a week! Thanks to it my lifts have gone up drastically and i do spin and lift weights on the same day now!

  5. Anita Leong says:

I recently started working out and thought of drinking sports drinks to rehydrate me. Problem is, I really don’t like the taste of sports drinks so this is definitely a great alternative. I’d love to add this to my diet to see its effects.

  6. Thuc says:

I’ve have been working out lately and water does not help my thirst; maybe because there is no taste, i can drink a whole bottle and it would still not be enough. I tried gatorade and i guess it’s better because it has flavor but i wonder if the vitamin labels are true; the affect is no better as water, just the taste. I hopefully I’ll switch to this.

  7. Regina says:

I have just recently learned about coconut water..I like coconut so I think that I will enjoy this …I am trying to lose weight..which means alot of walking…To me gatorade tastes too salty to me.

  8. Netta says:

I sometimes get extremely thirsty after a workout, even though I have been drinking water the whole time I workout. I sweat easily and alot! I was wondering will coconut water aid in this issue? Is it better than drinking something like Powerade?

  9. Chip says:

I recently read about coconut water in the paper. I think it is a good idea! I have never been a fan of fake, brightly colored sports drinks. Gimme the natural one!

Just recently started going back to the gym to get back in shape. I’ve been looking for a more natural alternative to high sugar sports drinks that will aid in my workouts and help with recovery as well. This seems to be a decent option and I would like to sample it and give it a try.

  12. Stephanie says:

I have noticed that i feel more hydrated when i drink coconut water during a workout instead of regular water.

  13. amanda says:

I have been reading up about this product and it sounds amazing. First i’ve heard and like regular coconut water, this formula sounds great. I love smart water and it helps me get rid of tension headaches, i’m guessing it is the electrolytes that are responsible. So for this product to have that and more sounds like a great drink, especially pre/post workouts.

  14. becca says:

I ALWAYS drink coconut water before and/or after my soccer games. I find it gives me the potassium and magnesium necessary to prevent charlie horses, and keeps me hydrated. I never thought about it much, until I forgot it one day. I won’t do that again!

  15. Tracy Allnutt says:

I’d love to try Phenom Coconut Water!

  16. Matt W says:

This coconut water looks impressive. Especially the Phenom Mega V. Who wouldn’t want the extra vitamin supplements with such tasty flavors? I can’t wait to implement this as a supplement with my workout routines.

  17. Diane Davis says:

Been seeing this more lately, in the news, even thru friends. We get so hot in Texas, great to see it replaces imp minerals, it really is problematic for us. Nice to see this product, interested in learning more. Love to try this, and will research all the articles you’ve provided, thanx so much

  18. andrew says:

I’ve tried three different types of coconut water. I tried Zico (sour taste), O.N.E with guava flavor (watered down and fruit flavor overpowers the coconut), and Naked (my favorite so far). The reason I started drinking coconut water is that I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Then once I drank it on a hot summer day, I was totally hydrated and full of energy. It was kind of a weird taste at first but you kind of need to acquire the taste of coconut water. I can’t wait to try the new Phenom Coconut water and am really hoping that it will be my NEW favorite among many competitors.

  19. Emma says:

After playing flag football I feel good for about an hr but then I start feeling really exhausted. I wonder if drinking the Phenom Energy would help. I have tried drinking a protein shake and even chocolate milk but it doesn’t seem to really help much.

  20. warren mattison says:

When I do my daily walk of 2-4 miles water never seem to do the trick. Want to try the Phenom Energy, thanks.

  21. Kristy says:

I run every morning for 45 minutes and workout for an hour or two at the gym each night. By the end of the day I am completely exhausted and ready for bed soon after I get home. I try eating small snacks before or during my workout and that seems to help a bit, but I still have a jittery feeling by the end of my afternoon workout. Would Phenom Coconut water help?

  22. Chris says:

I am excited about this because I love fresh coconut water!!

  23. Jennifer says:

The fresh taste of coconut quenches your thirst the moment it hits your mouth!!

  24. Megan says:

Love the fresh taste of coconut and gives me the boost of energy! Love it!

  25. Lindsay says:

Have never tasted an energy drink that was coconut flavor! Love the change up!!

I would be ver interested in trying this.

Can you cook with it or add flavor to a dish or another drink with it?

  27. Caine says:

I was previously unaware of the benefits of coconut water but looking forward to utilizing it to replace other less healthy alternatives that I typically would have grabbed !

  28. Mireille says:

I guess I don’t have an excuse to go back to other sports drinks! The benefits are just amazing… how can one liquid be so packed with vitamins and minerals? It seems that it’s not just recommendable, but necessary to have coconut water in your life! I guess I’ve been missing out all these years! Looking forward to starting off fresh!

  29. Robert Berkowitz says:

I never thought of drinking coconut water with exercising. I always drink water and really love the taste of coconut, so why noet put them together.

  30. Michael Mack says:

I have been working out and have heard so much about this. I have tried it and I am hooked. It helps me to get to that next level after a really hard workout. I have tried numerous items but this is the real deal. Thanks again for coming out with a great product.

  31. Arty says:

I had read somewhere that eating oranges after a work out was necessary for the antioxidants, since those are very necessary after exercise. I guess with the ANTIOX variety of phenom coconut water, you get the vitamin C and all the other benefits in one! Looks excellent!

  32. Mary says:

I have never tried this. I have had real coconut milk and didn;t like it but this sounds great! Can’t wait to try it.

  33. Madeline says:

I love coconut water not only does it have natural electrolytes it fills me up and I eat lesser I’d love to try this sometime

  34. casey byrd says:

Also have never tried it. But I do like coconut water. I have tried O.N.E. with passion fruit and really liked it. I do know that I have been following studies about it here ( )) and it is a VERY beneficial fruit(?) Like the article says, its good during exercise because it replaces electrolytes lost during sweating better than any other drink we have! Better than water even! But I cant wait to get to my gnc and try it! :)

  35. cris b says:

i love coconut water and love to exercise.

  36. Heather S says:

My was suffering from liver failure and was told by the doctor that she needed to bring her potassium levels up. I didn’t realize how much potassium was in coconut water. I wish I had discovered the health benefits of coconut water sooner. This product would have been nice to have then. This product looks as if it has even better qualities than just regular coconut water. I like to add coconut water to to natural fruit smoothies as well instead of just plain water for additional nutrients too.

  37. Emmi says:

I’m so excited to see this! I love coconut water but never knew that it could benefit me from exercising. I’m not the biggest sports drink fan and I get tired of plain water. I would love to have something like this to drink before or after a workout. And being a stay at home mom I usually lack energy so I think the one I would try is the acai peach Energy water. Although lemon mojito sounds good too. i love that these are flavored! =)

  38. Bobby Ingram says:

I’ve always loved the taste and the idea of Coconut milk, but never really associated it with working out. Gatorade is usually my workout drink, but i’m exited and I can’t wait to try Coconut milk.

  39. Heather says:

I’ve been been pushing myself really hard in my workouts lately and afterwards, I’m looking for something really refreshing, water just doesn’t cut it. I have never tried Coconut water, but I’m very excited to try it and I will let you know just how refreshing it is! Thanks for bringing something different to the store shelves.

  40. Gary Wojton says:

As a retired Physical Education Teacher now residing in Arizona, I find the idea of this water very interesting. I am hoping to receive a free sample so I can try it out when I am hiking the mountain trails in the AZ desert heat. I like what I have read…..I like the comments……now just need to write a follow-up saying “yes, I received the sample and yes…I love the product”!

  41. Donna Conley says:

Sounds great can’t wait to try it.

  42. Pip says:

This looks interesting. I have always stuck to plain water because the alternative ‘sports drinks’ always seemed too artificial - colors, flavors, sweeteners etc. I was never sure whether they did more harm than good! I am interested in using the Hydro variety to hydrate after excercising, and the others, Mega V/Antiox/Energy, as a potential replacement for supplements I currently take to ensure I get vitamins, antioxidants and other nutrients. Would love to try them!

  43. jason k says:

    looks promising, i love coconut

  44. Kate says:

I’m very curious about coconut water. I’ve heard a lot of good things but I’m not sure if it would be right for me. I’m a runner training for a half marathon and since I sometimes run for long stretches it is imperative that I stay hydrated (additional nutrients are good too) but I’m cursed with a super sensitive stomach. Drinks like Gatorade and often even water make me sick to my stomach and that really kills a good run. Do you think coconut water could help me? Is it mild enough for a delicate stomach?

  45. Sandra says:

I have never heard of Coconut water before today! lol We live in Louisiana and my husband works in the heat during the summer months. This leads him to become prone dehydration and heat stroke, so I try to stock up on Powerade and Gatorade. Now I will be getting Coconut Water as well. I’m not so sure he’ll drink it, but he’s always saying he’ll try anything once! lol Thanks for the free sample this will help me convince him this is a good option for him as well!

    Thanks for the tips!

  46. Dawn says:

This is super interesting! I would never have thought about coconut water having so many benefits for my body after exercising! I can’t wait to try it! I work out 5-6 days a week lifting weights and doing hard core aerobics and often feel like I am not getting enough to replenish my electrolytes. The Guava Passion sounds yummy too!

  47. Qiana Wallace says:

Wow this is a really interesting article. I take coconut pills as a supplement for yeast overgrowth and it works awesome.

  48. mindy artze says:

I love the idea of drinking coconut water rather than gatorade or something like that! Looking forward to trying it! I do boot camp daily at 5:30 in the am.

  49. Erica says:

My daughter plays competitive soccer. Recently at a tournament in an area much hotter than we are used to, she became very dehydrated. Then trainer suggest Coconut Water, so I ran to the store to see what I could find. We have been thru several flavors and brands of Coconut Water since then and have yet to find one she really likes. We would love to try Phenom!

  50. Paige says:

Never heard of anyone using coconut water for exercise! Ive used coconut milk in recipes as a healthier solution milk. Never actually knew it was available in water form! Very excited to try it. If its really as wonderful as it sounds my husband would really benefit from it! H works in a factory all year long and in the summer months it gets HOT. They only air condition the break rooms and he ALWAYS needs a way to replenish while working! What do you think? Would coconut water be a good replacement for water and power drinks?

  51. christina says:

I have not tried the coconut water and would love to , I heard that it is great to drink before you work out ? I will have to see for my self …

  52. jenna says:

I haev heard of coconut water but never thought about using it for exercise. My question though is that does it have to stay cold to keep the benefits from it? Also, if it gets warm, does the taste change and possibly make you sick? I drink a certain sports drink and a certain flavor when it gets warm make me vomit, so I was wondering, can coconut water getting warm do the same thing?

  53. Dee says:

I enjoy drinking coconut water. It’s refreshing and it gives me somithing else to drink other than soda or tea. I drink it morning, midday and with dinner!

  54. Shannon Orton says:

I have never tried it but I am looking forward to trying it. I hope it is not overly expensive.

  55. Michelle says:

I normally like to stay hydrated with sugary energy drinks or vitamin waters during my workouts, but I’m always concerned about the excessive sugar and draw backs of such drinks. Seeing that coconut water is a healthy, natural alternative is exciting news. I can’t wait to try it!

  56. Monika says:

  62. Christina Horst says:

I can’t wait to try my free sample! I have never tasted coconut water, and wonder what it tastes like and how thick the consistency is. What it the carbohydrate count on a 8 ounce glass? I will enjoy seeing how I like using it to stay hydrated during my walks.

  63. Paloma says:

i would love to try the coconut water , lots of vitamins great

  64. shari says:

I don’t drink alot of water because it doesn’t have any taste. I would like to try this coconut water as an alternative to flavored waters. I was wondering how much sodium is in it. I have to stay away from too much sodium.

  65. Jess says:

If coconut water naturally contains vitamins and electrolytes why is it necessary to add additional vitamins and electrolytes?

I am curious too how well it would work as a pre-workout beverage. Does it contain enough calories to prepare you for your workout?

  66. Janel says:

Would love to try this out, sounds yummy and healthy!! I have been very satisfied with all the GNC products thus far and I’m sure this one will be great too! Thank you GNC!

  74. Kiwi says:

SWEEEEEEEEEEET! Can’t wait to try it out. I liked vita coconut water.

  75. Andy says:

I’ve been using coconut water for about 2 years now. I find it so much better than gatorade for after-workout thirst quenching and feel so much better as well because I know there’s no artifical colors of flavors. Additionally, drink it in the morning right after I wake up and let me tell you, the sense of “becoming awake” is very magnified. It’s like you actually feel your brain becoming hydrated with those first sips.

As I like to say, coconut water is naturally occurring Gatorade without the Gatorade junk!

  76. letmebegreat says:

    Cool! I love this stuff.

  77. Bobby says:

I have been attending hot yoga classes for about 6 months now. At 105 degrees, my body tends to lose a lot of fluids. I take sips of coconut water between postures to re-hydrate myself quickly. It works great.

  80. Kevin H says:

How does coconut water compare to sports drinks? I drink a 20oz sports drink that starts with a ‘G’ post workout. I know the coconut water is natural, but does it replenish as well? Thanks!

  81. Farah H says:

I used to drink coconut water all the time because I LOVE the flavor! I honestly had no idea it had so many benefits till the recent explosion of interest in it (plus I haven’t had a coconut in literally years). Love that I see it around so much, definitely a better alernative to energy drinks (only God does it right :) __)

  82. Sue says:

This sounds exactly like what I’ve been looking for.

  83. Matt says:

I’m also curious about coconut water and look forward to trying it out. I’ve heard many benefits about using it. I would like to find a recovery drink that is not as sweet as some of the sports drinks on the market today.

  84. Pam says:

My husband always used to tell me about coconut water and it’s benefits, but since we never used to be able to find it in our grocery store, we always used to go to some small Asian supermarket to purchase it, but I was never too confident of the brands that they sold there. But now after reading about Phenom, I know that it’s from a reputable company and can buy it with confidence.

  85. Ali says:

The best thing about coconut water is the relatively high concentration of potassium. Your body needs a balance of sodium (from regular salt) to potassium, so drinking a regular sports drink which just has salt doesn’t help you that much. We usually have too much salt in our diet anyway.

  86. DaShaun says:

    Never tried but interested

  87. Justin says:

Coconut water isnt just a good electrolyte replacement; it’s also a tasty drink.

  88. John Nagy says:

I’ve seen coconut water everywhere online and in the GNC’s around Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh is their national headquaters so GNC’s are all over the place) but never really thought about trying it. I know that it can provide alot more potassium than most sports drinks can, but can lack in the sodium. some people may find that to be a bad thing because our body needs the sodium replenished, but the fact that we can get that from additional foods we eat makes up for it. Also, the sodium levels are that high because its makes it easier for the body to retain all the liquid of the sports drinks so that the nutrients can be processed, while the coconut water is natural and its easier for the body to absorb and break down the nutrients within it.

  89. DaShaun says:

after reading this article i am more sure about trying his product and since i am always in the gym this is the perfect drink to bring plus it’s made by pepsi so what can go wrong! :)

  90. Dallas Jones says:

Works like a champ and taste great too;)

  91. Susan says:

Ever since I heard that coconut water helps you not be bloated during my menstrual cycle I’ve been constantly drinking it. Now that I know that it can replace energy drinks while working out, makes me want to eliminate sports drink. Very informative!

  92. vi patil says:

The article reinforced what I knew about coconut water -rich in potassium and sodium electrolytes, which are the main electrolytes lost when you sweat during exercise or working hard…..

  93. Rebecca says:

I have heard of coconut water, but had not really done any research into it until today. I was amazed to find out that it was extremely high in potassium and other essential electrolytes. It’s like having a natural souce of gatorade - lol :) . I was also surprised to learn that it is such a popular drink in other countries. I’m super excited to try it out and see if it helps me during my workouts.
Thanks so much for all the great information!

  94. Willow Poli says:

I’ve been hearing about coconut water for a while now but never tried it. I am looking for something that will keep my hydrated through my workouts. I’ve heard its much different from the taste of what you get out of the brown dried out coconuts. I’d really like to try it out!

hmmmm, ive never heard of this before, interesting. itll be interesting when i try it out next time i work out

  105. Abbas says:

Coconut water is a natural healthy way to replenish the body of many nutrients. In many south east asian countries, like India, coconut water is sold directly from coconuts, that are cut in front of you. The fruit is yummy too. Not sure if the coconut water being sold in the bottles tastes like the coconut water that I have drank many times directly from the coconut.

As for people’s questions, whether it is safe or not, it is a natural product and one of the best replenishers of energy. Take this as a tip from the millions of people who prefer it to energy or soft drinks in the South Asian countries.

  106. Jenny says:

I would love to try something besides water that would be beneficial after a workout!

  107. Alanna says:

I learned about the benefits of coconut water through a YouTube guru known as missglamorazzi, funny the things I learn from a simple YouTube video! . From her I learned that coconut water can purify the body from the inside out and even has electrolytes, a must for those engaging in regular work out sessions! Since then I have been trying all different sorts of Coconut Water, trying find the one with the right amount of flavor and one that I will actually enjoy drinking. In my search I have found many that I don’t like but I have never found a really good one. I really can’t wait to try this one! I have also been trying to get my dad to drink coconut water for when he does P90X instead of Gatorade. Maybe this article will convince him ^.^

  108. Chad says:

I’m thrilled about trying this stuff. In fact, I’m going to go look for it tonight (after a few searches on where I can find it). There’s nothing I enjoy more than a good, soft beverage, and coconut is the best of all of them. Additionally, being how I’m training for the Ragnar Relay and another marathon this summer, I wouldn’t mind seeing how they do with the whole “hydration” thing.

  132. Kerry says:

Coconut Water seems to be the best of both worlds… currently I take a smart water with me during my workout, along with a fizz supplement to add into the water for added electrolytes. However, I have been reading up on how to make sure you get the best workout (i.e best after workout snacks etc) so I have been eating a banana afterwards to ensure I get enough potassium. It is great to see CoconutWater has all 3! I can use one product versus the 3 I am using now!!!!

I drink Gatorade and add a packet of Emergen-C to it to help me survive my high intensity boot camp sessions. But my friends slam me for drinking it because of the high fructose corn syrup and/or high sodium content. Phenom would be a good non added sugar alternative; I’ll switch to it if it helps me get through my workouts and doesn’t cut into my wallet too much.

I think it’s great to use a natural-source of sugar and salts, since both are needed to operate the pathways used to rehydrate cells. A lot of people think they just need salt OR sugar, but in actuality both are needed in concert with water for hydration.

  191. Andrew says:

Coconut water is also an excellent post-workout drink. It helps restore all of those electrolytes you lost while exercising, especially potassium. Additionally, the natural sugars will help increase your bodies depleted glycogen levels, which is essential to proper recovery after a workout.

  221. Katherine Eisenback says:

I actually have trouble drinking anything immediately after a workout- I find that chocolate milk is too heavy and Zico (as mentioned above) is way to bitter. I don’t know- I guess coconut water would be tasty, but will it be heavy? I like the idea of extra nutrients, but I’m not sure if I could handle it directly after a workout. I know, I’m a weirdo.

  243. Anita says:

Given the many health benefits of drinking coconut water over sports drinks, why are more people not choosing to drink coconut water over less healthy alternatives?

  244. Anita says:

  248. Army Blogger Wife says:

I am a runner, and while I drink coconut water after a long run or race, I have not used it during a race. I can see the benefits of doing it, but obviously on a long race I can’t carry a ton of coconut water along with me. How does the alternating coconut water and H2O work on the body overall, or is that practice discouraged? Maybe they need to carry it at the aid stations?

  249. Mpar78 says:

I experience severe cramping in my feet when I exercise. Instead of relying on bananas, I would like to try Phenom Coconut Water instead which would be killing 2 birds with 1 stone - to say the least. I mean, if I’m going to be drinking water during my exercise regimen plus a banana to keep my feet from cramping, I would much rather just drink the water.

  250. Kelsyh says:

  263. Katie says:

Coconut water not only sounds delicious, but it has great health benefits also! I get dizzy sometimes during workouts, and have to stop and take a break to eat a little something and I’m thinking that maybe the problem could lie in that I am only drinking water and not something more like coconut water. I love coconut water already…would love to compare Phenom to the others I have tried. The pineapple punch or the pure would be right up my alley. I love it over ice after a long run in the summer (or sometimes not after a run - but just as a nice cold drink in the summer!)

Wow! I love coconut milk straight from the coconut. I am excited to try this, especially if it can replace the Gatorade style drinks that I am not a fan of.

Coconut water has been known for its refreshing properties since ages. Come summer time and you will find people in the tropical countries drinking the water from a young coconut (green in color). With time, it has been discovered that apart from being energizing, coconut water is associated with a large number of health benefits as well. These benefits mainly arise from the presence of a large number of vitamins (mainly B, C and D) and minerals so it is beneficial during exercise

  270. Daniel says:

How exactly does coconut water compare to other drinks like Gatorade? I’ve had coconut drinks in the past (not this particular brand), besides tasting bad, they didn’t seem to help with anything.

  271. duy says:

I hope these coconut drinks taste like the real thing or close to it

  272. Christine Jensen says:

I never realized that Coconut water contained Sodium and Potassium! I am always looking for hydration alternatives (While standard sports drinks taste great, I really hate to finish a great run and come home just to drink all of the calories I just burned in the name of hydration). Thank you for the inside look into the benefits of Coconut Water as a sports hydration option!

  273. Jose says:

Coconut water just sounds delicious. I’m getting back into the gym routine and most of “excercise” drinks taste horrible. I’ve heard that phenomwater tastes real good though. I’m looking foward to trying it.

  274. kil says:

wow ! I want to try that

  275. kil says:

am a runner, and while I drink coconut water after a long run or race, I have not used it during a race. I can see the benefits of doing it, but obviously on a long race I can’t carry a ton of coconut water along with me. How does the alternating coconut water and H2O work on the body overall, or is that practice discouraged? Maybe they need to carry it at the aid stations?

  276. sonnia haan says:

I love the coconut water…i have tried others but never seems pretty awesome with no artificial flavours and lots of it

  277. Jill Will Run says:

I frequently experience digestive distress from sugary electrolyte drinks. But when I try only using water & electrolyte pills I find that it isn’t enough to keep me fueled for long runs. It’s a tough balancing act. I’ve heard really good things about coconut water for exercise and I’ve found that I do better when I consume more natural things. I’ll have to look for this line of products (and share the results on my running blog!

  278. mary says:

sounds good, i want to try it!

  279. Kayla says:

This is quite an interesting product-I already know that sports drinks, fitness waters, etc are WAY more horrible then most people realize, so aside from good ol’ H2O, it would be really nice to have something like this when I workout that has that much benefit and is different then my normal water routine.

Thank you for the great opportunity!

  280. GD says:

Coconut water sounds like a great replacement for sugar laden sports drinks like gatorade and powerade that will help recharge my body after a workout and give me an intense boost of electrolytes that I need. I will try using this beverage after my intense work outs and see if it helps give me more energy and switch from the higher sugar beverages!

A few years ago, my Cuban boyfriend introduced me to coconut water. He would pull down cans or boxes from the international foods aisle at the grocery store, telling me to try it. Back then, I wasn’t running regularly nor had coconut water become mainstream. I tried it and thought it tasted great, but didn’t really understand the added benefits of drinking it.

Now, I’m an avid runner who’s training for a 10 mile race. When I finish a long run, the first thing I want to grab is a coconut water. It makes me feel instantly refreshed and recharged.

To make the product last longer (it can be $$!), I usually only drink a quarter of a container in one sitting.

  282. emid says:

I have to watch my cholesterol so knowing that this tastes great and is good for me is really cool. I love this product!

  283. Treia says:

I have to say that I’ve passed by so many aisles of coconut water in health food stores and never really gave much thought to them. I have several friends who are runners and actually drink coconut water when they train and they’ve recommended it to me numerous times. I’m a swimmer and I workout at the gym every single day, so I would definitely say that I like to keep my body in top performance shape. After visiting this website and reading the articles about coconut water, I’m definitely now going to try and give coconut water a go! And I didn’t realize there are so many varieties/flavors. I’m actually looking forward to trying this out!

  284. Adam says:

I’d love to try PHENOM as a supplement with my running. I’ve been using coconut water after a few key workouts for hydrating needs and am curious what this one tastes like compared to the others I’ve tried. One thing is for sure - it beats highly sweetened sports drinks!

  285. Lisa hartley says:

I’ve been hearing about coconut water everywhere! Its a chore for me to fuel during a run, something that I can drink for energy, hydration, and electrolytes is amazing!

  286. Paul says:

I have not drank coconut water before my work-out routine but I will most definitely give it a try. I need to try some new things.

  287. Joanna says:

I usually drink gatordades electrolyte powder during a workout, but would love to try a more natural approach.

  288. Cindy says:

I have tried a couple of coconut waters, I have read on your site that yours tastes great, I would love to try them!!
