What Happens to Your Body When You Work Out?

In order to work out, you have to move your muscles, which then create motion. Whether running or weightlifting, you use your muscles in different ways with the help of your energy source, ATP.

Your moving muscles make demands on other parts of your body, including your heart, which starts beating faster to pump more blood into your muscles. Meanwhile, your nerves, blood vessels, lungs, and skin also respond to your muscular movements.

All of this motion causes your body to heat up, and much like a machine, its natural cooling system kicks on. In order to maintain a normal body temperature, your body releases sweat through glands on your skin. This sweat evaporates quickly, causing a cooling effect on your skin.

Sweat is composed of water and dissolved nutrients, including potassium and sodium. These nutrients are part of a network of essential electrolytes that your body requires to properly function.

The loss of these electrolytes through sweat can cause you to become dehydrated and fatigued, making it important to replenish these electrolytes during and after your workout.

Is Coconut Water a Good Post Workout Recovery Drink?
Coconut water is an all natural isotonic beverage, which means it’s rich in minerals your body needs to rehydrate after a tough workout.

Coconut water is especially rich in 5 essential electrolytes that your body requires for proper recovery after sweat loss.

These electrolytes include:

  • Potassium
  • Sodium
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium
  • Phosphorus

Its rich electrolyte content makes coconut water one of the best drinks you can consume post workout.

Best of all, coconut water also contains a rich vitamin content, specifically vitamin C and B vitamins.

Read on to learn about PHENOM Coconut Water and its additional vitamin and mineral boosts that make it an even better post workout recovery drink than traditional coconut water.

I’ve always been adamant hydration before and after a workout, but until now it never occurred to me that there was more to think about.

After reading your post, my eyes are open. This makes so much sense and I cannot believe it hasn’t occurred to me before. The comparison you gave in regards to our bodies being like a machine, really bring clarity to why i’m always exhausted after working out. I literally flop down on the couch and rest.

I now understand why that happens and am overjoyed to know that there is a solution. I can’t believe i’ve never heard of Phenom before. Rest assured I will spread the word. This sounds like a wonderful addition for everyone out there who’s looking for a healthy way to hydrate and revitalize. Best of you, there are several flavors to choose from.

I personally don’t enjoy drinking plain wait and often add lemon to it, just to make it bearable. I’d love to have something that actually tastes good AND has added benefits. Kudos for a BRILLIANT idea!

I completely agree with this. Whenever I work out, and drink water afterwards to rehydrate myself, I feel like I’m quenching the thirst, but not the electrolyte thirst for the rest of my body. I occassionally (when they’re in season and on sale) buy tropical fruits, like coconuts, pineapple, and mango and make myself shakes, but who has time to go home and break open a coconut and drink the milk for it’s valuable content these days? Nobody. The next best alternative? Phenom coconut water sounds like an excellent idea.

Love the fact of all the different flavors which sound delicious and the fact that I can exercise and it will give me energy and also put electrolytes back in my body. this sounds awesome.

If coconut water is good enough for UFC welterweight champion of the world, Georges St. Pierre or better known as GSP then it is definitely good enough for me and my family. I have heard many up and coming MMA athletes rave about the benefits of coconut water and decided to try it myself, with phenom being my first choice. Now I can say it is my only choice, since you cant beat the taste, benefits and overall pricing !

  5. Karen says:

I just joined a Gym & started a Weight Program… I am soo excited to try this product..All the girls at the gym talk about Phenom..thanks for the offer!!!

  6. Erika P. says:

I think that drinking water or some form of recovery work after a good work out is good for the body. Your body needs water to replenish after an intense work out.

  7. Molly Dinney says:

I always wondered about this. I do a P90X ab ripper workout, and at the end they tell you it’s a good time for a post workout drink. I never really knew what they were talking about. I was going to go to GNC to ask about it, and now when I’m there I can ask about Phenom.
