How Can Coconut Water Help Ease Digestion During Pregnancy?
Constipation due to dehydration is a common occurrence during pregnancy. Because coconut water is a super hydrating beverage, containing lots of vital electrolytes, it can help to ease digestion by rehydrating your body.
Coconut water also contains about 11% of your daily value of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber is an essential nutrient that helps regulate and speed up your digestion, thereby avoiding back-ups in your system due to constipation. Dietary fiber also helps rid your body of harmful toxins that can have a negative impact on your body and your baby.
How Can Coconut Water Help Regulate Mood During Pregnancy?
During pregnancy, you may experience mood swings or feelings of depression and anxiety. Certain vitamins, such as B vitamins, can help relieve these feelings and balance your mood.
Coconut water is packed with B vitamins, including:
- B1, Thiamin
- B2, Riboflavin
- B6, Pyridoxine
- B9, Folate
While B vitamins are vocal in promoting proper digestion, they also work to regulate other systems in your body. B6, in particular, helps to regulate your mood by increasing serotonin levels in your brain. Increased serotonin helps to decrease depression and anxiety.
In addition, B1 helps to prevent fatigue and improve stamina. B1 also promotes growth and stimulates brain action, which are important to you as well as your developing baby.
B9 is important for fetal brain development. And like B6, B9 also acts as a natural antidepressant. Without the help of B2, B6 and B9 would not be properly activated. Furthermore, B2 helps to process amino acids and fats.
B vitamins also help to boost your metabolism and improve energy, which may be lacking during pregnancy.
How Can Coconut Water Help Relieve Nausea During Pregnancy?
Stomach pain and/or vomiting can be a common discomfort during pregnancy. In order to calm an upset stomach, you should eat and/or drink foods with low acidity. Coconut water can help ease stomach pain because it’s an alkalizing, or basic, fruit juice that is low in acidity.
And because coconut water is super hydrating, it will also replace lost nutrients, like electrolytes, and cure dehydration due to vomiting.
In addition, coconut water’s super hydrating powers can also promote the healthy production of breast milk, which requires a large supply of water as well as proper hydration.

During my wife’s pregnancy I would tell her drink coconut water. Besides the soothing great taste it does the body good.
Coconut water is also a good source of dietary fibre, manganese, calcium, riboflavin and Vitamin C which is good for pregnant women, and it relieves exhaustion by replenishing the natural salts lost by the body (which pregnant women face).
Not only is it good for pregnant women but great for to soon to be dads as well.
Exhaustion can take its toll in final months of pregnancy and soon to be new dads need energy and nutrition as well. I know from experience. It’s a quick drink that does the body good!!! I highly recommended this coconut water.
Wow, I sure wish I had known about coconut water during my first two pregnancies. I couldn’t keep anything down, besides IV fluid, and really think coconut water would help. I have recently given it to my daughter when she had a bout with stomach flu and know that it helped to balance her electrolytes, keep her hydrated and regulate digestion.
